Who is Thomas Sheets?
Thomas Sheets was born in the San Francisco Bay Area. He was the only son with two older sisters. His father played trumpet during the "Big Band" era, and his mother was a gifted singer. His Mother and Sister "Paula" were also very gifted artists in their own right. Thomas never really experimented much with art as a boy but was more interested in music. After high school, Thomas and some friends tried unsuccessfully to break into the "L.A. punk scene."
It was only recently that Thomas once again began letting his creative juices flow. Living on the Southern Oregon Coast during the late spring of 2009 Thomas began creating these rustic modern abstracts. His first pieces, very primal, almost tribal, were created for his own home, but it wasn't long before the local art community became aware of his work and urged him to share it with the public. By the beginning of 2010 Thomas became the "Featured Artist" at "Signatures Gallery", the largest and most prestigious gallery in Brookings Oregon, boasting a catalog of art that is regarded as one of the best on the west coast.
Every unique one-of-a-kind, original piece is created primarily with natural found driftwood and stones, however, semiprecious stones and other materials have been added to accent his work.
